"Faster, faster" she whispered in my ears, "Please go faster." For some reason I had let this frightened little girl straddle me, and now I was taking her to who knows where. Not to mention she kept wanting me to go faster. This is the thanks I get for letting her ride me, to be beckoned to ride myself to death. Half of me wanted to throw her, but a stronger more insistant part told me that I could save her. From what, I do not know, yet she seemed to be running from someone, or something. As bidden I surged forward, extending my muscles to their fullest extent as I ran. The faster I went the harder it was to dodge the hanging branches of the trees in the forest we were running through, and contiually I would get some type of vegetation wrapped around my horn. At one time I tried to shake everything off, but found out it's not a good idea to shake your head about when at a full gallop. It puts your eyes out of place, and as a result I just about pummeled myself, and the girl, into an oak. After a while the dim wit on my back finnally realized that the branches and leaves about my head were causing me some discomfort, and tried to remove everything without loosing her seat. Eventually she succeeded, and not long afterward I ran into more. That's it, I thought, I'm going to more open ground. And I did. I took of to my right where I knew there was an open rode. I could tell the girl was puzzled at my sudden change of direction. Well that's just too bad. The road came into view and I lept toward it. The girl tensed with fear. "No, turn back," she screamed, tugging frantically and my mane to try to get me to turn around. No way, I thought, If she's going to make me run then it's going to be in open country and on smooth paths. I'm not going to go lame for her sake. Wet drops hit the back of my neck As she continued to pull against me and pleading for me to turn around. I ignored her and pressed on. When I reached the road I also went faster. I felt like a colt again running just for the fun of it. The sun was shining the air was clear. Suddenly the ground grew dark, the sun's light blocked by a cloud no doubt. But when I looked up to investigate, it was no cloud, and it was bearing down upon us. I ran, faster than I ever thought I could.
