Ok first off, for those who don't know, I hate MySpace. It's full of ads on almost every page, the coding is horrible, majority of profiles are bands, movies, porn, roleplay profiles, etc. Very few profiles, that I've seen, are actual people. On top of that, people throw hundreds of random images, animations, videos, songs, etc. on their pages, which causes either extremely long load times or my browser crashes.
Anyway... another hate for MySpace came to my attention the other day. One of my friends, who didn't know of my hate for MySpace, sent me a MySpace invite. I wasn't very happy about it, but also kind of happy, seeing it had 2 options to get MySpace to never email me again.
Option #1 - With this option, I was to click a link and it was supposed to take me to a web page where I can tell MySpace to never email me. I clicked it. It brought me to a page saying "you must be logged in to do that". What the hell? I don't want an account, just to tell MySpace I don't want invites, to get an account. I've personally never seen another site do this. Other sites allow any random person go to a page and input their email address to be added to a "no email" list.
Option #2 - I was to send them an email with the subject "BLOCK" and they'd stop people from sending invites to my email address. I did that. A day later, MySpace emails me saying:
"Hello,
Unfortunately, it is unclear as to the reason why you are contacting MySpace support. Please specify the nature of your complaint and/or how we can assist you. Be sure to include the web address (also known as a URL) or links to the profile(s) in question and any previous correspondence or relevant information.
Thank you,
MySpace.com"
Again, what the hell? I followed their directions on blocking my email from getting invites and they don't know what my email to them was about? Someone needs to tell them how to run a website.
