Mum called again.

“I’m in my room, mum.” I answered.

“Okay Nick,” she called back, as she chivvied the twins out. “ Weren’t you going back to school today. Hurry up and I’ll give you a lift down!”

“Th at’s ok ay muuuuuum,” I heard my voice yell back. “I’ve…got liiift,” My body hunched and shuddered, slumping against Ger’s legs.

“Hnnn, Sta ay outta m…my head,” apparently being puppet controlled is tough on the vocal cords. “I… I can answer f for myself.”

“Silence!” He growled and promptly put a further lock on me, freezing my vocal cords and neck muscles so I could use neither without his touch. “Relax!”

My thoughts were far from complimentary and he laughed, somehow picking up the general sentiment. I blinked… if he could pick up the general sentiment… maybe I could try words. It worked before.

This time it was an effort but I managed. ((L het mmm me go!))

He paused amused and surprised. [[My but you do learn fast, don’t you. Where did you pick that up?]]

((D don’t kn know)) why was this such a struggle now? … It had been so easy before and still was with Azu. Maybe it just needed more practice or was someone running interference? ((Be… late. Let m me go!))

“Not just yet,” he murmured, hands knuckle deep in my hair, “ Perhaps this will teach you some manners.”

My neck was beginning to cramp.

It felt odd leaning back against warm, damp knees while someone played with my hair but being reigned in like a restive horse every time I gave so much as a mental twitch was making me irritable and impatient. I don’t like being check reined…
