In search of the sane Death Note fan
Now, it's probable that if you frequent the AMC, you'll see me posting about my distaste for Death Note. It's certainly nothing that I bother hiding. And because the fanbase for Death Note is so large, there may be an equally large number of people who don't understand why I hate Death Note so much. So recently I endeavored to put it into words, perhaps in a way that might teach myself something as well.

My Death Note-tard experience begins and ends in the AMC. Of course, there are some sane and mature Death Note fans out there. I see them every day, but it's a bit like listening for birdcalls when there are cars driving by cranking shitty music--what they say seems to get covered up by stuff that makes you want to BREAK things.

[Right now, I will get to the point of my rant, in case anyone here doesn't have the patience the sit through it:
There's really not anything we can do about this. They really don't listen to reason. However, there ARE many Death Note fans out there who probably feel somewhat jaded by seeing their fanbase behave like this. In the future, when a Death Note fan behaves civilly to you even if you disagree with them, thank them. And ask them to knock some sense into the crazies. They've probably got a better chance at it than us Death Note haters.]

The worst part is, these Death Note-tard Kira worshipers have no sense of humor, either.

In response to the rumor that Zach Effron will play Light (which I think would be hilarious, and support in every way):
"THIS IS A TOTAL DISGRACE TO ALL ANIME FANS/ DEATH NOTE FANS! DO U WANT SOME HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL FREAK TO PLAY AS OUR BELOVED KIRA?!? NOT ME, I KNOW THAT! I AM OUTRAGED WITH ALL OF THE OTHER KIRA SUPPORTERS THERE ARE! NO HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL FREAK COULD EVER PLAY AS OUR BELOVED KIRA!!! D< THIS IS A TOTAL DISGRACE TO ALL ANIME FANS AND DEATH NOTE FANS!!!!!"

If they actually possessed real Death Notes like I'm sure they go to sleep praying every night, about 80% of the people they know personally would be dead. You know, the cruel gym teacher who made them finish running that lap. Their evil mother who told them they couldn't watch their anime because their homework wasn't finished. Their vile sister who thinks all anime is for kids. The preps, the jocks, the emos, the skaters. They even admit it, in the infestation of the AMC by "what would you do if you had a Death Note" threads are any indication:

"i would use it to take notes in class and kill the bad teachers, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!"

"if i had a death note i would write noobs names in it"

"Use it against the billions of ppl in the world that are killing the planet, abusing children, raping women and young teenagers, and kidnappers."

"awesome trust me it would have a lot of names haha "

"i would use the death note to unite all the countries by fear of me
then rule them "

"I Would Use it for delete for the map all bad guys and the people what dont like me."

"i would kill sponge bob and my english teacher "

Of course, there are those who will be saved from the pen-scratching wrath of these misguided teens:

Fellow Kira worshipers. They flock in droves, especially to the ever-present "OMG KIRA IZ HE DOIN DUH RITE THING?" threads-- even more notably if the creator of the thread does not think so. And here I begin to turn into my parents, with the realization that teenagers think they know everything, including how justice should be carried out, and who deserves to die. Thankfully, I have actually only seen less than a handful of people who actually say "Kira is my god," but just seeing that once is fairly disgusting.

A few examples:

"I Agree With You. I Myself Am A Kira Supporter And Your Right He Did Put His Life On The Line And Risked All That Had Happend. Also What You Said "He took some innocent life but to improve and move forward you need sacrifices" I Agree With That Too, It Is Better To Have A Lost A Few Innocent Lives Than To Lose More On War. Wars Also Stopped Because Of Him. People Knew The Consequences So They Stopped. The Innocent He Killed Were Threats That Will Stop Him From Doing Right. KIRA Should Exist."

"I beleave Kira does exist maybe not how Light does in the comic but Kira does exist he punishes the wicked and their lives are hurt a much as theo ther's lives they hurt. I strogly beleave with time Kira cuts a person's life and kills them even in this world. Kira is my god and this is merely my belief I just hope you agree."

And they don't take difference of opinion very well either. Not liking Death Note is apparently a sure sign of a lack of intelligence, which puzzles me. The IQ test has been in use for decades, even though it's inaccurate. So I'm inclined to wonder what makes people think that a matter of liking or not liking a certain cartoon is any more accurate as a litmus test of intelligence?

These people proclaiming the ignorance of stupidity of non-Death Note fans is fairly ironic, seeing as they prefer to tip their hat to venomous insults laced with profanity that carry the same opinion as theirs, and turn their noses and roll their eyes at intelligent dissent from their opinion. I turn now to Youtube, another bastion of Death Note-tardness:

One user posted a video that is nothing but a black screen reading "DEATH NOTE SUCKS." Sure, not the most mature video. I would have at least included my feelings on the subject, and saying WHY I think it sucks. Of course, the discourse happening in the comment field by the Death Note fans responding to it wasn't any better:

These comments all had "thumbs up":

"dude r u kidding me death note and bleach rules u ******** gayruto c**k"

"Death Note is for people with brains, which you obviously have none of."

"Go to hell stupid. I hate animehaters. Go watch your shitty American TV shows and learn to never use drugs. haha anime rules."

"U SUCK DEATH NOTE RULES"

"You again saying that death note sux!!! You mother f*cker!!! 1 @ss hole out of 5"

"Death note pwns..u,suck more then Hitler does."

These comments all got "thumbs down":

"Yeah, having a different opinion about a show is the same as killing millions of people."

"'d like to share why I think death note is bad. Please do realize this is my opinion.

I can't stand that it tries to be extreme in everything it does. Because the only way a show about two people thinking out loud constantly can get a fanbase is to be as emo and goth as possible.

Also, I think the music is utterly terrible, especially the second opening. And the characters are bad, Misa misa especially. The animation is ok, but it has too many "extreme" effects."

"Death Note had an intriguing premise, but it got bogged down in bull****. Its more intelligent than many other animes, but thats like a gold medal in the special Olympics.
I dislike the show more than it deserves, because an annoying friend is obsessed with it."

"What are you on? He only said Death Note sucks, not that anime sucks.
I happen to agree with him."

"I agree with you, but if you're going to make a video about how much it sucks, why not record a rant or something SAYING why it sucks rather than just show us a few words?"

As you can see, while everyone has SEEN sane Death Note fans, they get swallowed up by those who make the fanbase look like a group of foaming-at-the-mouth, self-righteous, bitter teenagers with a superiority complex.

And now, we get the the whole point of this rant again, besides me letting of a bit of steam. I will repeat myself-- I don't mind it, since I find myself doing it fairly often:

There's really not anything we can do about this. They really don't listen to reason. However, there ARE many Death Note fans out there who probably feel somewhat jaded by seeing their fanbase behave like this. In the future, when a Death Note fan behaves civilly to you even if you disagree with them, thank them. And ask them to knock some sense into the crazies. They've probably got a better chance at it than us Death Note haters.

Thanks for reading.

Excuse me for coming out of the blue, and secondly I really like your stand point here. : D I couldn't agree more. When I was into Death Note, I enjoyed it! Almost two or three years ago. What I dislike the most is the new "wave" of Death Note fans is due to Cartoon Network showing it on their adult swim. Now you have a million so called "anime" fans (ohh you watch cartoon network and youtube! HXC) going crazy over every show they put up their.

Lets be honest, the anime is worth s**t. I read the entire Manga and watched a few episodes of the anime. For God's sake to the whole idea of "OMG KIRA=REALLL!!11!" Is rediculous. There is no Kira and people just die because it's their time. There's no magical little boy who thinks he can play god by doing what we've always been told not to do. Two wrongs do not make a right. Killing someone because they did wrong is a crime in itself. Not to mention, in the manga, Ratio (not LIGHT the faggoty American name) did NOT display a lot of admirable qualities.

In the end of the manga he is a cheating lying scum bag who manipulates the world because he is obsessed with his own image. He thinks he is immortal and great, but he isn't. He kills people to save himself. He dies at the hand of the shinigami.

So calling him a "REAL GOD" is absolutely and completely...save for a better word, retarded. It's not real and it's just a stupid cartoon and I hate all of the new fans -_-

If such thing as a Death Note existed those who said they would use it are probably the people in this world who are A. Semi-retarded and in denial or B. Emo or Goth or extremely depressed with their lives.

It was an enjoyable manga and it came out a long time ago, these people are stupid Americans who are behind in their time.

Yeah, I agree -although I love Death Note myself, I can't see why you have to have a superior intellect to enjoy it. Plus, I don't get the whole Kira vs. L thing -the author even said himself that the story was just entertainment not making some sort of message about morality, etc.

Death Note fans are probably the most pretentious jackasses in the anime fandom, I hate to admit. They take it way too seriously in all the wrong ways. If you haven't read every single page of "How to Read 13" you're an ignorant loser who sucks cocks (or something else of that nature). If you don't have a firm stand-point on whose side you support, you're a p***y. Blah, blah, blah -I'd rather be thrown in a den of nothing but Naruto fangirls then with them.

Yes. I really don't like the second opening. And I want to tear Misa's head off with hedge clippers. Other than that, I liked the show. But you have a point with it being extreme when nothing all the 'epic' is happening.
"I'll take a potato chip, AND EAT IT"

That was the more hilariously stupid thing I have ever seen.
I enjoyed reading this, thank you!
