Mi Vida Reborn
Just some random stuff in my mind. May have random fanfics, adult language, high levels of sarcasm, and themes not suitable for those who are young and/or sane. You have been warned
for Brighter Day (Chapter 2)
Snow is a b***h

Anyway, kept forgetting to update. Just started on a new chapter. Pretty decent. Seems like I'm going to play the UST card for quite a while.

Chapter 2

"So we're offically students in the Guardians' Academy." said Ami. Kyoh and she were riding the shuttle back to their hometown. "Mobile Defense too." Kyoh added. Ami nodded. "I wonder how my mom's gonna take it? She hasn't been too well these days." Kyoh nodded in agreement. "And there's me quitting the restaurant. And withdrawing my application to the college." Ami sighed out loud. "I'm glad they gave us three days to adjust." Kyoh nodded again. "It's going to be hard now."

After they departed the shuttle, the two said their goodbyes and headed off to their respective homes. Ami unlocked the door to her home. "Mother! I'm home." She looked around to see that she wasn't in the first floor. Ami walked up the stairs to find her mother in her bedroom. "Ami? Is that you?" She nodded. "Yeah, it's me." "What's wrong?" said her mother, "You feel uneasy." Ami smiled a bit at her. It was her mother's extra sensory from the illness she had. But that was to make up for her worsening eyesight. "I heard about the Seed attacking and got worried since you were in the area." "I'm fine Mother. I stayed for a couple days because my leg was injured. But I have something to tell you." Ami took a seat in front of her mother and touched her hand. "My stay there might be permanent. I'm joining the Guardians, Mobile Defense."

Her mother fell silent. "I see...so you'll be out there fighting against the Seed." Ami nodded. "More than likely yeah. In three days I'll be attending the academy there. I'm kinda worried about who's going to help you out since I'll be there." At the mention, her mother smiled. "Don't worry. I have someone capable. He should be coming in right now."

As if summoned a male came up the stairs. "Megami, I'm back....Ami?" said a silver haired male. Ami looked at him confused. She knew him from somewhere. Then it clicked when she looked into his blue-green eyes. "Father?" "Ami...you've grown so much. Like a spliting image of your mother." "Shion, Ami just told me that she's joining the Guardians in Mobile Defense." Shion couldn't help the surprised look on his face. "I haven't seen you since you were seven. I thought you liked playing." "I do." Ami explained, "But I'm putting that on hold to do this." She got up. "We can catch up later. I'm going to give my notice at the restaurant." She went out of the room and walked down the stairs. Shion looked as Ami left, then at Megami. "She has grown." Megami smiled. "When you leave for ten years, it forces you to do things."

Ami walked around her town. She didn't want to say anything upon seeing her father again. She barely remembered him. All she knew was that he had to leave. She went inside the restaurant that she worked in and sat in a booth. Her co-worker, Kiri, went up to her, "Oh hey Ami. I heard that your dad is back." Ami nodded. "News travels fast around here. And I'm quitting today." Kiri took a seat. "Huh? Why?" "I thought you guys would have known by now. I'm joining the Guardians." Kiri was just as surprised as her parents were. "How about I get you your favorite smoothie, my treat?" Ami nodded while smiling. "I would like that."

After a few mintues, Kiri came back with a tall glass of smoothie. The manager was there as well. "So you're joining the Guardians?" Ami nodded again. "Yep. Along with Kyoh. We're both going into Mobile Defense. But I can work tomorrow. If you want." He smiled a bit. "No, take the time to say your goodbyes. Though I do wish you would play one more time before leaving." Ami pouted. "Hey, you're making it sound like I'm gonna die out there. When I come back, I'll play again." She drank up the last bit of her drink before standing up. "I need to go do a couple more things, so I'll see you later."

It was now nighttime and Ami with her parents were having dinner together. "We haven't had anything like this in a while." said Megami. Ami looked down at her plate. "It has been." added Shion. Then he looked at Ami. "So what have I missed?" "A lot." Ami said nonchalantly. Shion was the one to look down. "I'm sorry. But I had to at the time." Ami waved it off. "It's fine, you don't have to explain it to me." Megami cleared her throat. "So how does the training work?" Ami explained, "Well we go to an academy for three months to get the basics down. If we pass the academy, we become trainees and be under a Guardian's wing for another three months training alongside them. If we prove ourselves passing, then we obtain our licenses." Then Ami added, "That's what they said in orientation anyway." She ate her food in silence for a couple minutes. "Isn't it going to be hard?" her mother asked. She looked up. "Yes, but it's to help Gurhal. So I'm willing to bear it." She stood up. "May I be excused? I still need to finish getting things settled." Shion nodded. "Yes you may." She took her plate and left. "She hates me." said Shion. Megami smiled. "She doesn't. Ami just have a lot to deal with right now. She'll be back to her normal self." Megami coughed a bit. Shion got up but Megami waved it off. "These fits are normal. I'll be okay."

It was the morning of Ami's departure. After her morning routines, Ami looked at herself in the mirror. She placed a hat on her head. "A run should do." She made her way out of the door, making sure to not wake anyone.

It had been months since Ami had taken a morning jog. It cleared her mind, if only for a while. She started with a brisk walk before picking up into a full run. It was going to be the last time she was going to do all of these simple tasks as a civilian. As she was running, she bumped into someone. "Owww...." she said, rubbing her sore tailbone. "I'm sorry." said a male. She looked up at him. She almost was startled by him, thinking it was her father, But for one thing, the male she bumped into looked to be the same age as her and his eyes were blue. "I hope I didn't hurt you." he said. Ami was speechless, feeling the blush to her cheeks. "I'm fine." she said weakly. He offered his hand and she accepted it. "I wasn't looking where I was going." they said at the same time. "Something on your mind too?" asked the male. Ami just nodded. "Yes. I have to move into my academy dorm later and I just got all caught up in it." "You're becoming a Guardian as well?" he asked. Ami nodded. He smiled, making Ami blush more. For once, she was grateful that her hat was covering her blush. "What a coincidence, so am I. I hope we become partners in the future." Ami nodded. Then she looked down. The two noticed that they haven't let go of each other's hand since. Ami let go quickly. "Excuse me." she said, taking off in a flurry.

When Ami got back from her run, she immediately went up the stairs to her room. She looked at herself in the door mirror. She found a pair of scissors on her table and grabbed them. "A new chapter means a new me." she said to herself. She took a deep breath as the scissors touched her hair.

Shion knocked on the door to Ami's room. "Ami, you've been in there for a while. You don't want to miss your shuttle." There was no answer. Then he knocked a bit harder. "Ami?" "Just a mintue." she said, through the door. A couple seconds later, Ami opened the door. Shion looked at her surprised. "How does it look?" Ami's hair was in a boyish like cut. Her bangs still remained, but the rest was slicked back to the nape of her neck. "Different. But I think you can make it work." he said. Ami smiled a bit. "Thanks, Dad." He was surprised at the name. "You're welcome Ami. Now lets go get you to your shuttle."

Kyoh was already at the station, waiting for the shuttle to come. He couldn't hold back the surprised look on his face upon seeing Ami. "You cut your hair." "Thanks Captain Obvious." she said. Shion looked at Kyoh. "You've grown as well." Kyoh nodded. "It's been a while. Since Ami and I were kids." "Take care of her." Ami blushed. "Cut that out. I can take care of myself." It was silent as the shuttle pulled into the station. "It's time to go." Kyoh said. "Be careful you two." Megami said. Ami knelt down to hug her. "I will Mom. I promise to contact you when I can." "It's all I could ask for. Other than coming to visit." Ami smiled. "I'll try." The two boarded the shuttle. "I'm ready." she told herself. They took their seats in the middle of the shuttle. Ami looked out and waved to her parents. They waved back. She gave a slight smile before the shuttle pulled off.

And another is done. Instead of calling it Modern AU, it's more of a retelling of With You. And I'm sticking to it. I'm really trying my hardest to stick to canon. Just some parts I changed to flow better with the storyline. And as much as I dislike her, Laia's gonna have more time.

Until next time.
