Chapter 4
Shion walked into Megami's and his bedroom. "Finally got a letter from Ami." he said. Megami smiled. "I wonder how she's doing." she said. Shion opened the letter and began reading:
"Dear Mom and Dad,
How are you? I hope you two are okay. It's been a month since I started in the academy. I'm okay. It is hard, but I'm trying my best. Guess what? Kyoh and I are in the same training class. So I don't feel as lonely. I made a couple of friends along my stay here. There is talk that because of the Seed, we might become trainees a week or two sooner. It seems that there is a shortage of Guardians. Anyway, Kyoh still had my picture at the restaurant and I came close to killing him. He promised to not show it again though. I do have to admit that I am changing bit by bit here.
Anyway, that's all I have so far. I hope Mom is feeling better these days. And Dad, I wish we could have caught up properly. Maybe if I get time to see you I will. I hope the Seed don't come home. I would be too worried to finish my training to do so.

"I hate not sleeping." said Ami. It was late one night. Just like for the past week and a half. Since going outside of the campus was forbidden at night, Ami settled for the indoor training facility. She had gotten her practice twin daggers to do some late night training. Upon opening the door, she saw that someone else was there. "Oh sorry. Didn't see you there Hyuga." she said. She was about to turn around before he caught her wrist. "It's big enough for the two of us." Ami nodded as she sat down in silence. "Having trouble sleeping?" he asked. Ami nodded. "Yeah, for the past week or so. I guess because I'm anxious." During the past month, the two had gotten to be on better terms, but not like friends as Ami was with Ethan and Kyoh. "I understand." He got up. "Lets spar. I've seen you a couple times in here." Ami got up and readied herself. "Alright. Even though I won't beat you."
The two were having a stare down. Ami was the first one who made a move. She used the dagger in her left hand, but he blocked it with his saber. She then used the one on her right to make a slash. This caused him to leap back. "You're better with a twin dagger than a saber." He rushed up to Ami and attacked, with her blocking or avoiding. "You're better too." The two kept up their attacks for a while. Ami tripped on her own feet and landed awkwardly on her right ankle. She fell flat on her back.
"Are you okay?" Hyuga asked, noting the fall. "...yeah." she said. He didn't believe her. "Let me at least take a look at it." "No don't." But it was too late, he had rolled up Ami's pant leg and saw the scar. "How did you get that?" "Accident." she made up. He examined the ankle. "It doesn't look swollen. Do you feel anything from it?" "Other than your cold hands?" He smiled. 'He looks cute when he smiles. Oh no, I didn't just think that.' She shook her head. "I'm fine really." That didn't get his hands off her ankle though. "I don't want to be the cause of hindering you." Ami blushed. She didn't know he could be so concerning. "It's okay. If it will make you feel better, I'll go and elevate it when I sleep." That made him let go. Her skin felt tingly where his hands were. "I'll walk you back." He put out his hand. Ami nodded as she took it.
The walk was fairly silent between the two. "Thanks." Ami said. "It's nothing really." he said. The tension was getting to her. "Ha, it seems like you'll be at the top of our class." she said. Hyuga was the one to blush now. 'He really does look attractive. Crap, stop thinking that!' "Maybe." he said, "Ethan is pretty good. He's just too brash at times." Ami looked down and noticed that she had never let go of his hand. Hyuga noticed too. "Wait." he said, "I'm getting a sense that I did this before." Ami's face was red as her heart was pounding. "I think so too." She quickly took her hand away. "I can make the rest back. Thanks." She walked away.
Sara was awake when Ami made it back into their room. "Ami? What's wrong, you look a bit flushed." Ami sat on her bed. "I think...I think I may or may not like someone." Sara became wide awake at the mention. "Who?" Ami shook her head. "I can't tell you yet. I just thought some weird thoughts and then when we talked, I was blushing a lot." Sara smiled. "Yep, you got a crush. Lemme guess, Ryght?" Ami threw a pillow. "No!" She then fiddled with her fingers. "What makes you think it's him anyway?" Sara laughed, "You're pretty bad when it comes to contact with guys you like. He's the only person I can think of that can make you feel that way. When the two of you are together, I feel the tension." Sara threw the pillow back to Ami. "Try to get some sleep. If you dream about him, then you definetly have a crush on him." Ami sighed as she got changed into her sleeping gear. "That's not funny Sara." She got to her bed and was now racked with what she just figured out. 'Good job Ami, you manage to get yourself tangled up with a playboy.' She sighed. 'But he's a dedicated to become a Guardian playboy.' "It's just something small anyway." she told herself, "It'll go away in no time." 'You wanna bet?' Ami pouted as she fell alseep.
Ami came into the studies room, the next day. She looked like she was confused with something. "Good morning Ami." said Hyuga. She was startled at him talking with her. "Oh! Good morning." She took her seat. "Was you able to sleep?" he whispered. "Only a little bit. My mind has been on something." Throughout the class, Ami tried to focus on the class. But she couldn't help glancing at him. At the end of class, she was the first one out.

It was now the last week that the group of four were academy students. The week was primarly filled with tests to see if they were ready to become Guardian trainees. Ami sighed to herself as she finished taking her last written exam. "Done." she said. It was kinda lonely since Sara was already a trainee, leaving Ami in the room by herself. It gave her time to think about her dilemma. Her little crush didn't go away as quickly as she would have liked. It seemed to develop a bit. But she did a good job of hiding it to everyone. Sara's last words before she left still rang in her head, "You should tell him." Ami shook her head violently. She walked around campus a bit. Luckily, they had the last two days to themselves before they knew if they were going to become trainees or not. Ami mostly spent it to herself. She played with her hair. "You know, I'm going to grow it back."
The next day, Ami sat by herself under a tree. "Hey." said Kyoh. Ami looked up. "Oh hey. They have the results posted yet?" He shook his head. "Not yet. Should be this afternoon. It's been a while since we saw Ethan and Hyuga. They split up all up the last two weeks of studying." "Thank goodness for that. I couldn't concentrate that well." Kyoh looked at her. "You have been acting weird for a couple months now." "I'm fine. Just needed some time to myself. " She looked up at the sky. "I just realized that this is all real you know. Soon we're going to fight against the Seed." He nodded. "Yeah, hopefully, we can make this planet a better place."

So now it should get a bit more action like after this. Apparently, I've written further ahead that I imagined sweatdrop
