"This is where you will stay," he said in a flat voice. "You should be safe for the night... no one hardly comes this way anymore because there is no need to." He explained what he had to in a dry voice. He studied Jynette's face much like he would study the ancient texts in his scrolls. Jynette looked back at him, trying to wipe the distrust from her eyes. She nodded and said, "Right. Thanks." She stepped forth and made her way onto the creaky porch. She tried the door but it wouldn't cooperate. She pulled on the slippery handle, there was no visible lock on the outside which could only mean that there was one on the inside. Whatever she tried, the door would not bend to her will. Fai saw her troubles and came forward. He motioned for her to move out of the way. As she did, Fai placed his hand over the door and whispered some quiet words unfamiliar to Jynette. A blue mist swirled around him and he concentrated hard on the door. Waves of blue magic sparked through the hidden cracks of the door and the door swung open freely. Jynette was astounded by the free demonstration of magic. She walked into the old dusty cabin to see a bed, a table joined with a couple of chairs and an old fireplace. It was rather empty for a place that was once inhabited. A few sheets lay here and there over the table and bed. Nothing was comfortable to Jynette, but it would certainly do for the night. She glanced back to where Fai was standing to notice him on the ground. He looked as if he was having problems breathing. "F-Fai?" She hurried over to him. He pushed away her outstretched arm and said, "I'm... fine..." through ragged breaths. Jynette frowned but didn't press on him any further.
