27 - Contradiction / Tragic Tank News
Hi.

I remember writing a journal entry on RIGs* and how they deflate.
I also remember how I said that the tank stats compared* from alpha grams and the new fish, Lawnsharks.

[*Episode #18 - In Go the Lawnsharks! / RIGs]

Well, my first lawnshark dies in 1 day 18h.

A tragic thing has happened to tanks. On 28th July the Admin announced a sticky about BG fixes like immortal [long-living] fish and the glowing ghost fish glitches were being fixed. And since last week, I've seen a decreasing number of players on my tank, but this may change as I strive towards my new set of fish.

On the case of immortal fish, many of this happened during the April 2010 fish strikes, when Gaia decreased glow frequency*, from 2-4 hours to 4-6 hours. Many said that this would help lower tanks like mine (at the time), but I saw nothing different to any normal day. Many fish were placed in Barretts, and then taken out the following week with a new, longer lifespan. With fish modified like these you could wonder why fish prices weren't higher at the time.

[*April 9-15. Gaia said it was simply a 'glitch', many don't believe it however. Fish prices fell during this period of time, down to about 98k a lawnshark. Great compared to the price you pay now!]

In the case of glowing ghost fish, this was a more common trick used by tank owners to never replace their fish (like the glitch above, I guess). This was one of the immediate-effect changes. Basically, when your fish die, they are technically 'dead'. However, don't visit your tank and they seem to still be alive, hence the 'ghost' term. They used to glow. As of 7/28/2010, now they don't.

One glitch which Gaia failed to see yet again is a new MP glitch discovered about a year and a half ago. Certain fish are being sold as 'dead' fish - you buy it, and it appears to go straight in your tank. Then when you visit -- it's dead...

Starfish and Jellyfish are the main victims here, and one which Gaia ought to tackle.

Finally to what should be the first part of the title - 'Contradiction'. I mentioned a few lines up that I mentioned about RIGs in Episode 18. I said they cause deflation. Some people say they do. Others say they don't. This is where contradiction and controversy kick in. RIGs cause deflation, yes, but to some people, hoarders caused inflation but Gaia cares more about its revenue from virtual pixels more than it's "user-run auction house" [the MP].

Can Gaia get any worse? Well, certain parts of Gaia remind me of Facebook.

Also a certain person has said that Gaia doesn't mess with the odds of winning in RIGs after a while otherwise some glitches would happen and cause Gaia even more hassle. So, whenever you buy or open a monthly RIG, you have the same chance of winning - not less, not more.
