-Confucius had his Analects and I have my journal-
Athiest to Spiritual?
I thought of this last night.

Believing in a higher being is a part of the human experience. I think it's a part of the human condition: opposable thumbs and empathy. (*Note: there's more, I just haven't given it much thought.) To throw that away would be compromising a part of life, right? Not believing makes you no one's fool (and even then, deep down, you're just a doubter to the infinite power); believing puts you in a vulnerable position because you can only do it blindly.

So, I guess when it comes down to it, it's mistrust and that can only be brought about through living. What about the intangibles? Isn't it safe to say that the things we don't hold grip us more powerfully than we'd like? I think it's safe to say that I have no clue and that I won't choose a side until I have a several trustworthy ones - but then again, who can you trust?

Bah, I won't say God doesn't exist, but I will say I most certainly doubt it. I won't say that we have no souls to forfeit, but I will say that I highly doubt the notion of heaven. I believe in sin and shame but not the divinity of it it all. My faith doesn't rest with the Bible's antiquity but in the lessons we find in stories. Thus said, there are many other good books that I'd much rather read without the controversy.
