Setto and I decided that we would go after Croix together but Jack would be fair game for his bounty was only a small sum. So in the next few days we would be chasing Jack like in a competition, like who could get him first. But there was a problem, everytime we'd encounter Jack he would be in a difficult place to fight him, Taverns where they would get the cops involved if we did anything to him. It was as if Jack was shielding himself in a way, but why was he continuely on the move? I would later find out that he was posting flyers up to hire assassins. I knew what he was up to and I told Setto to keep his guard up. After those few eventful days Jack dissapeared and we lost trace of him.
Not dealing with Jack for a week or so I picked up a trail on Croix, which was much more harder because the man called "The Coldest Man on Gaia" didn't leave a trace to where he was, not even a chill down someones back. Though this time I was lucky to be in the area where I heard rumors of this supposed Coldest man was staying at, The Crimson Bar and Inn.
I entered there not knowing what to expect and too my surpirse the rumors was true. A man sitting at the bar fitted the legends description. His ageless face, his quiet presence, his cold aruma that gave you goosebumps. I standing feet away from the Man with a 10k bounty on his head. I knew this was my chance to get some imformation out of him but I had to do it casually, I didn't know what this man was capable of but he did seem dangerous enough that more thean one person would put money on his head.
I approached the bar pretending to be a depressed man looking to solve his problems in a bottle of alcohol, after a few drinks I started up a conversation. He actually talked and we became aquanted. I thought to myself. "This might be the only time I will be able to get him." So I decided I would get him by myself. I excused myself for a second and made a phone call. I called up the Haven and spoke to Curly. I told her of the situation and I said my goodbye's just incase, after that I returned to my seat to find out theat Croix was no longer there, He got away...
Dissapointed I headed back to the Haven. Arriving there I entered and stated "He got awa-- " Before I could finish my eyes opened wide. Croix was there, in the Haven, being served by Akiko. Knowing this wasn't just a coencidence I paniced and Unsheathed my sword. The serpant had crawled into my nest and was a threat to the ones I cared about.
"I didn' know I was unwelcomed here." he said mischeviously walking towards the exit. I was frozen, I don't know why but something was telling me not to attack him here. He said that maybe he should go have a talk with Setto. How did he know about Setto? everything seemed to fall apart and Croix left with out a scratch. A few days letter he sent me a letter saying I should learn how to better hide my tracks. The next week or two I kept a close eye on everyone, I didn't even fall asleep. I wanted to make sure everyone was safe. I felt like I let down my comrades, my freinds, and everyone I cared about since I put them in danger like that... I was in shambles..
