"This is not my time."
Indeed it was not. Times had changed for our young hero, many times had he gained and lost his loved ones. But never before had times like they had now. The gods seemed to mock him at every turn, using him as a pawn in their demented games. Every time he was forced to take action, things had changed for the worse. From the loss of his arm to getting a cursed blade that would kill him and everyone he cherished if he so much as dropped it.
His grip loosened on the hilt of the sword. "It's not worth it." He said, "They're playing with my life, seeing how far I can go before breaking. I wont do it!" He shouted to the heavens. The hero's fists clenched, the sound of metal bending came from his left hand reminded him why he despised the gods so much. "Fine." He said, letting go.
"No..." A voice in his head said. "Make them pay..." The hero's grip tightened on the hilt. "Go underground, to the place with snakes of metal and worms of men." The hero obeyed, sheathing the blade and walking back across the shadowed fields to the city subway
