Anyone who pays any attention to my life can't fail to notice that I'm currently undergoing a massive love affair with Ken Akamatsu's Negima! series. I've got all the UK releases of the manga, I've nabbed a fake copy of the original anime from eBay, I'm downloading the brand-new anime as it's released by Mahora Academy's fansubs, I've downloaded a bunch of songs from Negima, I've made an AMV based on the new anime, and I've joined a guild devoted to a big Negima RP.
Yes, Negima is awesome. And today things just got better. While browsing Amazon mere minutes ago, I discovered that the original anime is to be released in the UK on February the 19th. What's more, Amazon will be selling it for £11.99. When one considers that anime DVDs over here are priced at £20 in shops and usually only contain four episodes, this is EXCELLENT news, as the first volume has six episodes!
So once I've got the money for it, I can start watching Negima with decent subtitles (as opposed to ones translated from Japanese to Chinese to English from someone who needs grammar lessons as badly as Chamo needs a cold shower) and in decent video quality. Then I can flog the copy I got from eBay and make some of the money back.
Ironic, since Neo magazine claimed no-one had any plans to release Negima in the UK yet. I now love Revelation Films for taking over Funimation releases from MVM, who weren't going to release it. Of course, Amazon's release dates are never set in stone, but for now I think I have the right to be excited!
