So yeah, welcome back. I bet you missed me, didn't you? Well I've been back at home for the Easter holidays, and my PC is pretty poor, so I wasn't online much at all.
I had to cut my break short by a week though, because I needed to be in London two days ago. Why you ask? Because apparently in order to better understand an upcoming part of my Film History unit I needed to go and see a film at the BFI IMAX theatre. So, oddly enough, I did just that with a bunch of friends.
You may well ask 'What is IMAX?' Well I'll tell you. It's a special movie theatre right next to Waterloo Station, that boasts the biggest screen in the UK - 20 metres high by 26 metres wide. It's friggin' massive, and it has a killer sound system. It's mostly used for showing 3-D movies. We saw a movie called Deep Sea 3-D, a documentary about ocean life narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. I have no doubt that it was the most incredible thing I've ever seen in my life. The 3-D glasses may have looked kind of dorky, but the result of wearing them was breathtaking. Even though you know the pictures aren't real, they really do come so close to you that you feel you can touch them, and I found myself recoiling slightly despite myself when the animals lunged at the screen.
I really recommend the IMAX experience. It's like the Cinema of Attractions for the modern age, and a sight to see.
