This... is me. In a nutshell. ^^;
Soundtrack to your Life? (Weekly Writer Vol. 6)
Well you guys, it's that time of the week again! xd (actually I was supposed to write this sooner, but it took longer than I thought. sweatdrop )

here's one more for Jakobo's incredibly awesome Weekly Writer series, whom which this week's prompt is as follows

Prompt
What would the soundtrack of your life be? Add any reasons or notes you see fit.

Now, as this is a lengthy selection from which I can choose from seeing as I'm both an Audiophile and Eclectic when it comes to musical tastes, I listen to just about anything and everything... which is somewhat good, since it gives me a more broader view of what people have to say and what they are speaking out of their own hearts through music. so, I made this entry into a chronological order of my time on Gaia up to this point in time. Here we go down memory lane! gonk

Move - DOGFIGHT
This is a good opening song to those who have watched/seen "Initial D: 4th Stage" as well as this would be both a song that explains my wild life before Gaia, and also the song I race to in the car sometimes while cruising the highway. xd

Move - Spiritual Tatooist (No pain No Gain Mix)
This song is dedicated to my little brother who's username here on Gaia is "Ryuuhou" whom without him I wouldn't have ever discovered the awesome world of Gaia. It was through him and a mutual friend of ours that they got me inmersed into the whole Gaian scene; our friend with roleplaying aspect, and him (Ryuuhou) with the whole R&C community, to which this day I still consider my home forum. whee

Cocco - カウントダウン (COUNTDOWN) lyrics in english and romanji
Okay, a note to those who like listening to japanese songs and not bother to look what the meaning to their songs actually mean know this: this song talks about how she (Cocco) loves a guy to death, and threatens to shoot him if he doesn't stop philandering and come back to her. This song opened my eyes to the powerful raw vocals she has, and also is part of the reason why I wrote this into the entry... It so happens that when Shiro was a wee-bit n00b, he used to play often in the Barton Town forum back in '04. Back then I was roleplaying as a bouncer for one of the many Taverns there, and one night the manager and I decided to create this whole "thing" about our characters getting romantically involved. a few posts after that, comes in a passerby/RPer who seemed like an actual challenge to RP with seeing she was literate, had amazing RPing abilities, and wasn't going show-offy about her skills. Too bad I thought wrong. After one post, she PM's me explaining in detail how she sees how good RPer I was, and how (in the RP) she will shoot me [and possibly hurt or even kill me] unless I decide to "love" her character instead of the manager of the thread. xd Needless to say I managed to talk her out of it, but this song reminds me of our first meeting. It's a shame I haven't seen her since then. sad

El Sueño de Morfeo - A Paso de Tortuga (Morpheus' Dream - At a Turtle's Pace)
This song explains the laid-backness of my days back in the R&C's infancy and how I got involved through the many threads back then... and also makes me think of this one very special girl here on Gaia known to some as "jenna-chan" ... whom I consider this song fits her personality to a fault taking her time to listen to people at her own pace...no matter how slow it is. xd

Lifehouse - You and Me
Here's to the first time jenna-chan and I managed to have a chat openly without even trying to be funny, and her with nothing but a bemused smile on her face (as told by her) ... in one moment, I felt these lyrics meant how I felt at that moment...
"There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right"

... even if I didn't know it at the time of how I would end up having feelings for her.

Acceptance - Ad Astra Per Aspera
This works as an intermission of spoken songs, but also shows the tumult of how the R&C was going through and also serves as the opening act for the sequence of love that follows (even though this song doesn't have anything remotely "lovey-dovey" in it)

Lacuna Coil - Cold Heritage lyrics
Several Nights after our first openly chat, she suddenly began telling me about something that had happened in her life. She received a call and it wasn't good news. I won't delve into it much to respect her privacy, but it was bad. She also spoke of how bad things were for her, and I opened up to talk about my bad experiences in my own life. All in all, I guess to put it in a sort of "context" kind of way, we were saving each other from our own inner demons. After I showed her this song, she fell in love with it, although the song itself is purely gloomy in it's tune, it talks about how one hates oneself at some point in life and how she (the singer) holds onto the one hope that someone will save her by giving her hope.

Kelly Clarkson - You Found Me
While working one day back as a music store clerk, I saw this CD called "Breakaway" by her, and once I put it on the store's radio, I fell in love immediately with this CD. This song is part of that repertoire, and also marks the first time I felt "connected" to jenna... more so than any other serious relationship (on or offline) that I've ever had...although we lived too far away we felt as if we had known for our entire lives. This was also the moment in which our friendship crossed that one line you can't cross back to, and onto an actual established relationship expressing how we felt for each other. The song explains how out of all of the people in this world it was he who found her (the singer) and how life just wasn't the same after that. This song was also dedicated to me after our understanding of how we each felt for the other. redface

Secondhand Serenade - Your Call lyrics
This song is really special: A friend of jenna's recommended it to her, and she then dedicated it to me... especially the chorus to this song:
"I was born to tell you I love you
and I am torn to do what I have to, to make you mine
Stay with me tonight "

It's also special since it's from a band I hadn't heard of before, and even now remains special to me. smile [Also, this was the song at our "Gaiamarriage" back in 05 sweatdrop ... and fyi: it was me who inadvertedly caused the whole flood of Gaiamarriages into the R&C during 2005 crying SORRY YOU GUYS!)

Lifehouse - Everything
This song I first heard it on the show "Roswell" and just couldn't help but feel entranced to the tune. This also was the song I dedicated to jenna after she dedicated one to me (see above) ... needless to say, her friends were all "Awwwww heart " to me after that. sweatdrop redface

Juan Luis Guerra - Palomita Blanca [white dove] ninja-link! ninja <- click for youtube vid
Several months afterwards I fell into financial crisis sort-of as I had quit my job at the music store due to traveling problems, and although I was getting unemployment aid from the government, no one was hiring me. It was here that I had trouble staying in touch with jenna, since I had bills to pay and was using every single moment to send resumes, or spend time writing exams, or just waiting at offices for interviews. This song talks about how a man is far away from his love at this very moment, and how he knows he hasn't been there for her, but struggles with himself wishing he could give her what he hasn't been able to due to distance. To those not aware, this type of song is called "Bachata romantica" which is common music genre in Puerto Rico, since it was brought from our neighbor island Dominican Republic. :3

Yoko Kanno - The Man in the Desert
Another intermission-like song, this one too is also vocal-less. To me, it shows how after the struggle one has in each of our lives, there comes a time for peace, and even re-joicing. Funny (or sad) as it may be, it exeplifies my return to Gaia after a period of on and off again I had during my financial crisis stage (at the tender age of 22 xd ) and as the song progresses, it's cresendo builds to it's peak, being me finally being able to talk to jenna uninterrupted as before...

Metallica - No Leaf Clover lyrics
... little did I know at the time what would happen after I got back definitively. This song exemplifies how one thinks everything is right with the world, only to have it turned inside out, or upside down. It was the moment between me being the "sucker" by thinking that now things could be ok, and how that light which I saw at the end of the tunnel was merely a train coming my way. sweatdrop

Misato Aki - Kimi Ga Sora Datta lyrics
Asides from being an incredibly arranged song (any musician who knows what true music is and listens to this song will tell you), it's bittersweet lyrics are also part of the wholehearted charm this song has. This song is also a parting of ways between me and jenna and i do admit listening to it once after we had detached ourselves romantically and simply crying. redface (it's true, no matter how much you guys try to cover it up, men do cry)

Forty Foot Echo - Brand New Day
This song is the aftermath of the last song, as it brings realizations into perspective and how this whole ordeal with my life caused frictions amongst the people I love.

Default - All is Forgiven lyrics
This song brings a closure to all the romanticism to an end, seeing as I turn a leaf into my life by first accepting the reality of it, and forgiving myself for things I couldn't possibly have done or that were out of my control at the time. It's also a great pick-me-upper for those times you need to realize that no matter how bad things go, there is always another day to continue and gives one hope to begin anew. Definetly worth giving a listen to

Frou Frou - Only Got One
This song is more abstract than the others simply because it's a Frou Frou song (and because Imogen Heap is such a clever thinker when composing songs like this xd ) it simply states how you live your life your own way, and how sometimes you mean to say something, but that something isn't what you meant to say. xd

Maná - Cuando los Angeles Lloran [Live Version]) [when the angels cry]
This song is a tribute to one of my best friends. The song in itself is an outcry about Chico Mendez, a Brazilian Ranforest activist who was murdered. My friend wasn't murdered, nor was he an activist per se. He did however die. It was a long time ago though, since it was when I was in middle high (in my seventh grade) and this song is originally from about that time as well. The chorus is the one thing that makes me think that it's a tribute to him, and I always think of him that way.

song excerpt:
"Cuando los angeles lloran, lluvia cae sobre la aldea
(when the angels cry, rain falls on the village)
lluvia sobre el campanario, pues alguien murió
(rain on the church's bells, because someone has died)
Un angel cayó, un angel murió
(an angel fell, an angel died)
un angel se fue, y no volvera
(an angel left, and won't return)

it really isn't morbid if you listen to the song, but seeing the lyric excerpt might make you thihnk it is, and for that I'm sorry. xp

Akeboshi - Yellow Moon lyrics
Okay, I lied when I said no more romantic songs. ninja But before you say anything, this song simply makes me think of the good times had between jenna and I. (both before confessing and after. redface )

Frou Frou - Must be Dreaming
This song bases itself around daydreaming, which is something I tend to do too often. Not many people understand the lyrics a first when they read them, but if you think about daydreams per se you "get" the idea...or at least I did. (not to mention this song always makes me daydream something different...sort of an "AMV-moment" for me xd (no worries, I made up that term. cool )

Celldweller - Own Little World lyrics
If the entire Gaia team (Mods/Devs/the CEO/Admin/the elves that supply snacktopia/etc.) had a theme suited to them, it would certainly be this one. It's how I feel about Gaia and how incredible this world in this "little" hangout really is.

aaand that is all folks. smile (yes, I'm aware there are artists I mention twice, but each song has to do with me, thankyouverymuch. blaugh )

See you all next week! wink

(s**t, Jakobo... you make me write too much! gonk )

You have a lot of love going on there. :3

Why didn't you include "Yours To Hold"? crying If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been able to dedicate that song to my Truanty-muffin...even if he has no feelings for me. xd

sweatdrop well, I seriously wrestled with the idea ofp utting it in here, but although the message is one I've lived before in my life, it's not part of the whole ensemble which I made recounting my Gaia online's torrid affair. redface

other songs I didn't include on a whim were Maaya Sakamoto's "Yubiwa", Skillet's "Rebirthing", and Fiel a la Vega's "Solamente" (incredibly powerful love ballad in spanish) amongst others. gonk curses for having a wide music taste!
