Weekly Writer (week 8)
HOLY BEJEEZUS! O_O; I'm so late at entering into the weekly writer series. crying it's totally my fault at it for giving RL too much of my free time and such .__.;

anywho, on with the show! biggrin

Weekly Prompt: Sure, Valentines day (or as some like to call it, Singles Awareness Day) is a great day to hatch plots and schemes, but that doesn't mean it's the only time. Reflect on a time where you executed an elaborate plan for someone. How did they react, how did they feel, and would it be worth doing again?

Hmm.... good question. smile it happened just around mother's day on 2002 (mother's day being the day the plan came to fruition). All the past year (2001) I heard from many family members how my mom wanted a heart-shaped charm necklace and I had caught her spying on the jewelry sales pages since january looking for the bargains and such, but all of them were pretty expensive. My elder sister was working at a EsteƩ Lauder booth in one of the three biggest malls in the island at the time, so I asked her around valentines' day if she knew of any place that would sell the necklace charm I was looking for. She told me of a few places, but being a college student with little to no income, it was a herculean feat to pull off without leaving me stranded without cash. Three days later I found it: a heart-shaped necklace charm with nice precious stones (among these were rubies; her birthstone) and at a moderate price. Seems that store overstocked for St. Valentines and was now clearing items for their spring sale. As soon as I saw it the plan was set into motion. I put the charm on lay-away and then I rallied the efforts of my younger brother, my aunts, and some of my cousins. I hatched the plan to manage to get her said charm, while everyone else convinced my mom to hold the Mothers' Day party we usually hold on one of our house instead of our aunt's house as usual. I also got a part time job doing odd jobs for a few people (yet nothing illegal, mind you. talk2hand ) and all the while also concentrating on my studies at the time.

After much work and tons of sweat and tears and holding back myself financially from splurging myself into the temptations of alcohol and partying I payed what was due and retrieved the charm. My little brother managed himself to do some saving up and he bought a fine chain to fit with the charm. After looking at our own items, we both approved of what we got and decided to surprise her when the whole extended family was with us. That night on mother's day, we held our annual get-together celebrating our family's motherhood seeing as it was all of my mother's side of the family present at the event. As the drinks were being served, and as the last person was seated, my little brother made the announcement that I had to say something. shyly I came out of an adjacent door with a sly grin and my face most likely flustered in pink and my hand with the gift tied in a little red bow behind my back. I said "This being Mother's Day, It's nice to be able to be with the ones you love, and more importantly be with one of the most important people that could be in your life. That said..." I paused for dramatic effect, and walked up to mom, my younger brother in tow. "I would like to say thank you, mom, for everything. Happy Mother's Day." and with that I showed her the gift in my hand. Her face was in awe; she clearly didn't expect me to come up to her and say that, nor to give her a gift. like that. needless to say, my aunts were all fussing around going "YAAAY!!" and applauding in celebration, while my mom eagerly opening the gift as if she were a little kid in x-mas opening her gift. My brother was laughing cheerily while he said "I'm quite sure you're gonna like it!"

Her wide eyes suddenly grew wider when she opened the package: it was the same charm she had been looking for but couldn't find at the stores. Needless to say she was ecstatic shrieking in joy all the while everyone else just cheered even louder than before; the applause being even more deafening around me. When her joy subsided she whimpered a bit while she began sobbing with a few tears in her eyes and hugging me she simply said "thank you".

To this day, she still wears it proudly wherever she goes. 3nodding and this year I'm planning on doing something similar.

so all in all I would certainly do it again :3
