So! I was out shopping with my mom (like you do) when she randomly came out and asked me what it was I wanted for my birthday this year. Of course, my comment at first (and as my friends will tell you, always is) was "I don't know", but as I said that we happened to pass by the bookstore.

While passing by the bookstore in said mall, I suddenly remembered that the last Harry Potter book was going to be coming out in July and, well, my birthday is at the beginning of July, so I told her that the book would make a fantastic late birthday present.

Telling her this, I suggested that we go and reserve a copy soon because said book is going to be extremely hard to find when it comes out. And so the adventure begins...

My mom went to the bookstore near our house to reserve the copy. The sales girl at the desk mentioned picking up the reserve on midnight when the book first came out. Now, midnight is also the party. But the only people who really attend the party in this area, to my knowledge, are the really young Harry Potter fans (like 12 year olds) and I didn't really want to hand around with them to get my book. So my mom asks what the options are. The girl replies that the reserve is only valid for 3 days.

Okay...fine, we can live with that. We'll pick it up the day after the midnight party, right? But then the salesgirl proceeds to ask my mom why her daughter didn't want to go to the party. Wouldn't she like to go to the party with the other kids?

Er, yeah, that'd be fun...if I weren't 25 years old. When my mom told her the age, the girl got this LOOK on her face, as if she couldn't believe someone that old could be into the Harry Potter books.

Well, Ms. Book Store...I sic the Hogwarts Ninja on you!
