The rantings of a slightly insane pixie
As the title states, these are the rantings of a slightly insane pixie. Beware dragons, witches, gargoyles, and, of course, look out for those darn fairies! (I should mention that they tend to take the strangest things...)
Desperately Seeking Chocolate...
Oh man, today was NOT a good day for me. crying

First, I was awakened almost an hour before my alarm was ready to go off by my neighbor's car alarm. That thing is heinously loud, especially when his driveway is only a few feet away from my window. stressed

Okay, that's not so bad...an hour earlier than usual, I can deal with that. I'll just have an extra cup of coffee and everything will be fine and bright and happy in the world again.

So I have my coffee, take a shower, and by then things are starting to look a little brighter.

And then Lady Fate decided to screw with me again.

Leaving the house to run a few errands, I almost get hit...TWICE...at different intersections...where people had stop signs and I didn't.

Was there some sort of universal, cosmis announcement made to the rest of the world while I was asleep that said Stop signs no longer mean stop, but to speed up? I mean, if you're at an intersection and a car is coming down the street perpendicular to where you are and is only a few feet away from your car, would you want to tempt fate by suddenly speeding up and crossing the intersection? eek

No, I didn't think you would.

So, I went to the bank, deposited the money I had to deposit, when and picked up a few groceries for the house, and, on my way back, decided to stop at Dunkin Donuts for another coffee and a donut because, hey, I've been having a really crappy day and caffiene and sugar seem to solve just about any bad mood swing (at least temporarily).

Things are going pretty well at first. A very nice old man opens the door for me as I walk in, there isn't a long line of people in front of me demanding large quantities of coffee and donuts, and I happen to like the people currently working that shift (yes, I'm a regular at this particular branch).

And then, the coach walks in.

The coach is this old man who, obviously, teaches sports to unfortunate adolescents somewhere because, hey, the people behind the counter called him coach and seem to know him quite well. As I'm placing my order, I can't help but notice that coach is standing just a tad inside what I consider my personal space. Not a big deal, I'll just move forward.

He does too. stare

Thankfully, my order comes at that moment and as I'm getting my change and leaving a tip for the nice people behind the counter, coach reaches around me to put his money on the counter and is now more than just a tad in my personal space.

What...the...hell... eek

After barely restraining myself from turning into a psycho-pixie on "the coach" and entertaining rather creative ways to avenge myself on "the coach" I get back into the car and start driving home.

You thought this was over? OH NO MY FRIENDS, NOT BY A LONG SHOT!

On the way home, some woman decides that abruptly swinging open her car door into oncoming traffic is a great and fun way to take leave of her car. I'm only just able to avoid her and her car door, and she has the nerve to give me a dirty look! What did I do to her?! It's not like I slammed on my breaks to chew her out or anything! Besides, what's wrong with her?! Who on earth swings open their door into oncoming traffic!? gonk

So, I manage to get home with my coffee, donut, and my car intact. By this point I'm pretty upset and I've promised to hang with one of my best friends for the day. After having my coffee and donut, and still feeling pretty craptaculous, I decide to take a 20 minute nap before calling my friend.

Sleep makes everything better, afterall.

Except...my alarm never goes off.

At 4:00pm my phone rings and work calls asking if I can come in early. Having just woken up, I'm rather disoriented. Looking over at the clock, I discover it's 4:00pm! I have just completely and utterly unintentionally snubbed my friend, who is probably now incredibly hurt and angry at me and now I have to go in to work early and place nice with the other retail workers. What joy is mine crying

So, I get to work and things are going well at first. Everyone's in a good mood, the customers are fantastic people, and the little kids are the most adorable things ever!

And then my manager disappears into the bad room and doesn't reappear for a full hour! This leaves me by myself on the floor. This wouldn't be a bad thing, except for the fact that, suddenly, there is a huge crowd of customers in the store, I have five different people asking me for things that we only keep in stock in the back room, and I have no way of accessing said back room because, as a rule, I'm not allowed to leave the floor. As such. customers begin to get...testy...to put it nicely.

With everything going on at the store, I'm unable to take my break, so when we finally close for the evening, I haven't had a chance to sit down in the past 5 hours...and today, of all days, I chose to wear heels to work. (admittedly a stupid move on my part) So now I'm cleaning everything while the manager sits in the back office and talks on her cell phone to her boyfriend on what they're going to be having for dinner tonight! xp

Finally, I'm able to trudge back to my car and, now, after a long day, I'm finally home...and getting ready to take my second major teaching certification test tomorrow.

stare ....futz....

I think it's safe to say that I need an extra large dose of chocolate right about now, don't you?

Boof. So my 2 theories were correct: you went back to sleep and had to go to work early. xp Sounds like you had a hell of a day. Didn't you get the memo? It was treat Michie like crap day. domokun Good luck on said test, btw.

Yes, it was definitely an eventful day.

Luckily for the sake of my sanity, today was much, much better. 4laugh

I think I did well on my test (or I at least passed the futzing thing). I'll give you a call tomorrow once I get back from my morning meeting. We'll get together and do something fun.

I have to get up early xp
