  • Description: I've been watching all of the awesome and some insanly good drawings here on gaia for a pretty long while now. Infact so long that my urges to try and draw got the best of me.
This is my first drawing so please do go easy on me. Other then that, I would really be greatful for tips on how to become better.
I can't really draw bodies, which is why it suddenly just stops.
Anyway, please o-great drawers on gaia, make me your apprentice and help a block-head to become better!

  • Do not "scratch" at the paper. If you are planning on inking, do not pencil darkly. Smooth lineart depends on being able to erase the pencil afterward.

Most of my comments got cut off, so sorry about that... But I hope that helps, and good luck.

  • human anatomy (I know you anime lovers cringe at that, but it's true.)

Study fabric and hair, and the way light affects them. Fabric has weight, and depth. The way you've drawn what I assume to be a kimono belies no weight. It follows the line of her body, which it should not do. Silk is a very thick fabric.

Inking is a very difficult thing to learn due to its permanent nature. Mistakes can be hard to hide, so the key is this: do not make mistakes. Practise making quick, smooth and clean lines

  • Well, because you asked so nicely...

Scanner. You need one, lest all of your drawings are going to look very low quality. If you cannot acquire a scanner, try to take the picture on a flat, vertical surface (as in, hang it on a wall) with good lighting and a still, timed camera. If you have a tripod, that's even better.

Now, to the art part... If you can't draw bodies, don't just suddenly stop. It keeps you from getting the practise you need. And, speaking of practise, it helps to study real
