I’m sick of all the lies
We stare at everyday.
I’m tired of all the “Demons
You keep at bay.”
We all say we know how to live
When our whole lives are still ahead,
And we claim to know what’s best for us
Then half of us wind up dead.
We hate the way we are,
But everyone else is worse.
Parental guidance is just another piece of the curse.
If we want to live life
Why can’t we do it in our sleep,
Where nothing goes wrong.
tab tab tab tab tab How sweet.
I’m cutting off the lies
And I’m dicing up the truth.
Whatever there is to life I can find on my own.
So keep dragging me along
With a tight leather collar,
But I’ll never be the kind
To bow down to the American dollar.
If cutting out these lies
Means cutting out these eyes,
Don’t be surprised
If I don’t even flinch.
I’ve got my touch, my taste, and sound
That can lead my way around
This world.
I’ll just travel inch by inch;
Just travel flinch by flinch;
Not by these leaps and years
That the rest of you follow.
I’ll stop to ponder
As I aimlessly wander
Into my haze of existence.
Try it sometime, you might find something.

Description:
This was actually intended to be lyrics for song at it's creation, but I've twisted it around since then to make it into my own poetic criticism of the average american life.
Take out of it what you will. - Date: 12/12/2008
