• New York City
    City of Last Year

An empty heart where naught is seen
Bland and dull this holiday season
    Relatives, all off far away
And not one chose with me to stay
So I sat, watching clouds, alone
Trying to find cheer in cold, falling snow

    City of Never Sleep
    City of Last Year

Sitting by the holiday tree, in that square
People all around me, people everywhere
And yet among them nary a friend
I was all alone, in the end
With nothing for company but a snowflake
    Cold reminder of my heart-break

    City of Tears
    City of Last Year

That Christmas Day, that Christmas Eve
In a city where all chose to leave
I made the best of this dreary season
Trying to find cheer where there was no reason
    Opening presents from far away
And did they care? Who could say?

    New York City
    City of Today

    Now, the wheel is turned
And among me, my family is returned
This holday season, I'm no longer alone
With freezing rain and cold hearted snow
I'll treasure the loss of my frozen tear
And not forget this Christmas Year

    In the City of Today
