In The Second Chance
a second passed
and with it, a lifetime
no, more than a single span
for if one was to play out all opportunities
born from birth
it would take an era, an eon, an eternity
No, in the second
what passed was a chance
not the first,
perhaps the last though
seconds pouring through your grip like water through a faucet
dripping into the basin that is time
to flow down the drain
letting a second pass
is like leaving the sink on
you cant press rewind,
no more than you can reverse the flow of water
but to turn off this sink
one would miss all chance
so instead
catch the flow of liquid between your hands
and bring it to your lips to taste the second
and make use of this chance
don’t let the second pass

Description:
What I wanted to tell people with this poem was that life is all about chances. A moment missed may be gone forever. There is no conceivable way to reverse time and reclaim that moment. Thus, make the most of all your moments, for you never know what you may regret down the line.
Thank you for reading.
