Come closer, let me tell you what I know
Sit by the fire, for the wind is gonna blow
I have a story I need to tell, of a little boy
Who made a wish for christmas, but not for a toy
Timmy was a little boy, only 5 years old
He listened to his parents, did as he was told.
Even when his parents smacked him in the head
And with his empty tummy rumbling-sent him off to bed
He never complained, Timmy never made a peep
He'd just lie there in bed until he finally fell asleep.
One day his dad got drunk and took off his belt
With every blow that landed, there was a seeping welt.
Timmy's tears fell and he got on his knee's to pray
He prayed that Santa could be his daddy, and come take him away.
As tears ran down his face, there seemed to be a glow
Someone heard his prayers, though Timmy didn't know.
In the north pole, Santa was in a bind
He couldn't get that prayer out of his mind.
Such a simple prayer from a needful little boy
Who just wants to be loved and not a single toy
All around the little town, there were voices filled with cheer
The world was blanketed in white and Christmas was finally here
On the Eve of Christmas, Timmy lay in his bed
The same prayer as before having been said
Santa and his reindeer did their Christmas rounds,
Then landed on Timmy's roof, making not a sound
Timmy heard a thump and knew who that could be
He tiptoed into the living room to see what he could see.
There stood Santa Claus-Holding out his hand
Smiling down at Timmy, he knew he'd understand.
Timmy looked up at Santa and then towards his parents room
Then his soul filled with sadness, his eyes filled with gloom.
He just could not do it, he loved his parents so
He couldn't up and leave them, and not let them know.
Santa understood, he knew just what to do
He whispered to Timmy, "there will be no more beatings for you"
Before Timmy knew it, he was sitting up in bed
He thought it was just a dream and put it out of his head.
He ran into the living room to see what santa brought
Timmy couldn't believe all the toys that he had got.
But that wasn't all-The best was yet to come
For Santa took his goodness and gave Timmy's parents some.
They smiled down at him, loving their little boy
To Timmy, that was better than any toy.
