I'm sure this has been done over and over, but here is Peregrin Took (a.k.a. Pippin) from Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (as adapted by Peter Jackson) setting off one of Gandalf's magic fireworks. as a result, he causes firework flowers to fall (instead of a rain of gold coins as seen in the movie) and gets covered in soot. Poor Pip.
