Queen Serenity is the mother of Princess Serenity, who reincarnates as Usagi Tsukino [Sailor Moon]. Queen Serenity occasionally appears as a guide to help the Sailor Senshi remember who they are. Having sacrificed her own life long ago, she appears only in spirit, as a sort of hologram. It is she who tells the Senshi about their past lives, and about the history of the Moon Kingdom.
