- Title: The Burning Monk
- Artist: phydeoux
- Description: On June 11, 1963, Thich Quang Duc, a Buddhist monk in Vietnam, burned himself to death in the middle of downtown Saigon. He assumed the traditional lotus position as his fellow monks poured gasoline over him. He used a match to ignite himself and burned to death. David Halberstam, a reporter for the New York Times stated that he never moved a muscle, or made a sound as he engulfed himself in flames. Thich Quang Duc's remains were later cremated and legend has it that his heart would not burn.

- While I don't approve of this event being used to win the avatar arena, it seems to help a new generation understand the pain that the Vietnamese people felt during the Vietnam War. If that's what it takes to get a message across, so be it. Good luck, I hope you place in the top 10.
