this is my current avi. i really love it and i'd like to see what you all think of it. i wanted to go for a magician look, but not the cliche, gaudy, "birthday party" magician; i wanted something a bit darker. i started with the hat and everything else seemed to fall into place :)

I really love this style! It all does look very lovely! Though I think the swirls on the cheeks sort of take away from the "dark" theme. She does look sort of like a doll, or someone mysterious, but those swirls really throw off that feel for me. Other than that I think it is all very spot on!
