Every night, she pulls herself into her dress and yanks on her wings. Every night, she climbs the narrow stairs from the musty and crowded dressing rooms to the back wings of the stage. And every night, she goes onstage and sings her song for the amusement of the (mostly male) crowd. Hollywood's a harsh place, but she has no family and no support, so this is her best chance at a life off the streets.
But mostly, every night, she wishes for something more.
