Description:
Hestia, the goddess of the Hearth, who receives the first offering of every sacrifice. She was described as both the oldest and youngest of Demeter and Hera, the sisters of Zeus,Poseidon, and Hades. She was one of the three great goddesses of the first Olympian generation. Yet she gave up her seat in favor of newcomer Dionysus to tend to the sacred fire on Mt. Olympus. While several gods aspired to court Hestia she was unmoved and vowed to remain a virgin.
