No-one saw her slip quietly from the hall. She stepped out onto the balcony, her long black hair and the fronds of her mask whipped gently in the breeze.
He hadn't noticed her. She had even slipped her mask off and revealed her face as he passed by. He was too preoccupied with his current company to even spare her a glance. Beautiful women with rich gowns. How could she compare?
She stood there in misery and watched the fireflies. They were her only friends tonight.

@ ynattirb73 - What would you suggest to make the avatar a little less boring then? It was supposed to be more of a sorrowful and thoughtful theme to a masquerade rather than something which jumps out and grabs people's attention. More of a scene.. - It's a cute story but the avatar itself is completely boring. Everything fits perfectly with the story but I still wouldn't give this a 5 or even a 4.
