First in my "America's History in Photographs" series.
USO has always provided entertainment for the military during wars. Many shows during WWII were the pin-up girls singing and dancing in cute short military uniform-style dresses or skirts. The term "Pin-up Girls", or "Pin-up Models", when the soldiers would "pin-up" the photos in their lockers or next to their bunk.
The reference pic is a small sample of the style.
