[i]Inspired by Emma Edmonds, a woman spy for the North in the Civil War (United States) from 1861-1863. She dressed as a man to help in the war, hoping for a peaceful America.
Emma also dressed up as a slave, an Irish Peddler, and several different army generals, gaining access to rebel camps. Only 1 person knew of her disguise besides herself.
