You know I am not offended by the phrases used, I understand it's their sarcastic and funny way of making announcements. Maybe the timing was off and they apologized so I am fine with that. I am not thrilled by the fact they are going to charge 2% but I can work around it. I am annoyed by the fact that the stories vary, but again not something that would make me leave the site or anything that drastic.
But I will tell ya what burns my cookies in all this; they are using my donation dollars to hire an economist? Are you kidding me??? Let me see if I have this straight.......they paid a real live human being to come in and analyze a fake economy for several months? Was this person a member of Gaia previously or did they just put an ad in the paper? This boggles my mind. How could an analyst, even one with PHD know anything about the workings of a fake economy that doesn't adhere to the normal economic influences of real societies? Lets face it, if economics was based on simple supply and demand and nothing else, then said person wouldn't need to spend all that time to get a PHD now would they?
Um ya couldn't have used that money to hire another person to work on glitches or add some of the features you've been promising us for years on end.....or maybe sent Lanzer to Hawaii for a week to clear his head?
And one more thing, in one of the posts by either a programmer or the economist (it's hard to keep track at this point who said what conflicting thing) it's implied that the 2% is due to the added information available in the new marketplace. If I read that correctly, that doesn't even make any sense. It's not like the programmers are gettin paid in gold, they are gettin paid in real world dollars........right?
