• Artist Info: Good job finding my profile, I tend to do more lurking then posting on the threads. What can I say? Hm…
(If you want to pass my ranting below feel free to skip to the bottom of the post.)

Started going on this site back in 2006 – it all started when friends of mine needed help with a user who was harassing them. At the time I was in high school, and when they seemed upset about the situation I decided it was only right to help. I made this account, and thus it began. Up till 2011 I was a full time player on this site – it was not uncommon for me to spend each and every waking hour here. My friend and I would buy the EI/monthly items, and we would even start to do the rigs (At that time they were a new thing, and it was a new one each month or so on Gaia) I was fully invested in several guilds, posting as often as I could while I was awake, which would be anywhere from 6-10 posts if I had my way. I met new friends here, ones I still keep in contact with to this day. Throwing myself headlong into the events, responding on occasion on the forums (I still mostly lurk as I did back then, unless it’s a thread that is really interesting.) My communication was mostly through PM’s, and the guilds I was with. I was a member of the Gaia monthly membership – one of the first few and I enjoyed every second of it.

Then about 2010-2011 it started to fall apart. The econ had started to inflate, and my friend and I were fully invested in collage and work. Upset with the way Gaia was headed, we were ready to leave at any moment. Our RP’s were mostly through PM at that time, and we would have 12-13 different ones going at a single time. Then the PM time limit hit – we were furious. What was once something we could do for hours with ease became a struggle. Having to wait between responses – that which we could once do in several seconds (They were the single line role-plays – little description and mostly communication between our many characters.) took hours. We left – we had had enough.

We used Yahoo, MSN, Email, many different ways to get RP’s done.

We returned for a short time early/mid 2014 and started to get into the swing of things again. One thing I quickly noticed was that Gaia was no longer about having fun with friends, it was about money. Plain and simple. We kept to the site, mostly ignoring the stupid amount of updates directed towards gaia-cash. Played a few games, joined a few events.

However, as of October 2014 things came to a point to where I had a hard time keeping here. I can easily say I spent $100+ a month, and yet Gaia was not happy with any of that. With the addition of the 'Tier's, it made me aware just how far this place has fallen. That, and the death of ZOMG! pushed me even more to no longer give them a penny cent of my money. I have my doubts that Gaia will keep going strong, I would not be shocked if it shuts down for good. People are getting tired of the money grabs, and this site is to greedy to see it. I am done spending my hard earned money here. For what? For Gaia to decided it is not enough? Do you know how much I could have gotten in real life things? Its over. No more spending, they have lost me as a spending client.
