I'm an artist as well as an aspiring art critic. Stereotype away. Oddly enough you'll probably be right.

What kind of artist? The kind you find in galleries, you actually met one of those freaks, good for you. So basically. Yes. I want to be poor.

Anyways, my life is my art, I might get distracted by sexy British men along the way but I'm mostly focused. My current pieces incorporate fabric and paint on a 2-D surface. Here's something of a convoluted artist statement:

"I don't profess to having any high minded-ideas, my main concern with the majority of the works featured here was to incorporate fabric into my paintings because of a long standing interest in textiles. Fabric itself is a functional art form; a 2-D surface made to drape a 3-D form. But in applying it to the 2-D "canvas" it's denied it's purpose and the onlooker is forced to consider the essence of that original 2-D idea. We consider the fabric threads that make it up and also pay special attention to the surface treatment, whether the fabric is covered in designs, if it's silk, if it's smooth, if it’s soft, or if it's rough. Essentially painting is also a surface treatment so in my combination of fabric and paint I've tried to create an interesting surface treatment that reflects the concept of fabric.

I encourage every person looking to feel free to touch the paintings. The ability to feel the texture on the surface is much more satisfying then only visually understanding it."
My artistic inspirations are Matisse, Kandinsky, Gauguin, and Paula Modersohn-Becker.
