• In a land far form the world we know lived a monk by the name of Odin. He was the only living resident , apart from the forest creatures, in the small grotto in a clearing in the middle of a forest. One day that all changed.

His day started off like any other, but the air seemed to have a sort
of intensity. Odin awoke from his slumber and did his routine morning prayer. He did his usual cleaning around his home. As nightfall came he started to hear a sudden surge of activity in the forest. He stepped outside his home and watched as the birds took flight a mile or two away. He figured that he would have to keep watch that night. He went to his room and went to a slender wooden case on top of his drawer. He opened the case and pulled out a slender yet tough looking oak bow.
He went to his bed and got his quiver out from underneath.

"It's been a while since I used my bow...hmm", he says to himself.

He goes outside and strings his bow. He looks into the forest and hopes that the situation won't require him to defend himself for he is not the young man he used to be. He sits on a chair outside his home and waits.

Time seems to pass by really slowly as he waits. He starts to wonder what could be making so much commotion. As he starts relaxing he hears a scream come from nearby inside the forest. He readied an arrow and headed towards the direction of the sound. As he got closer to the screaming he could see a man carrying a woman in his arms, he assumed the man was trying to hurt the woman but as he looked closely they were being chased by two soldiers in crimson armor. He took out another arrow and held it in his mouth. As he readied the bow he made eye contact with the man. Odin slightly moved his head and the man understood what he was trying to say. The man turned and Odin let the arrow fly.

"Bullseye". he said as the arrow pierced the armor and hit the soldiers heart. The other soldier noticed Odin and started charging him instead. Odin readied the other arrow and let it fly. It hit the soldier in the shoulder, but he continued to charge at full speed. Odin started firing arrow after arrow but the soldier would not halt. The soldier pulled out a dagger and threw with the intent to kill. He saw the dagger coming but only had a second to respond. He was able to move, but the dagger cut his cheek. Odin fire one more arrow and it hit the soldier square in the head and he fell.

Odin ran back to his home and saw the man standing outside by himself. As he got closer he noticed that he was casting a spell. He stood at a distance as he finished his spell.

"If I were you I would go inside or you won't be able to get in later, catch my drift?", the man told Odin. He went inside as the man had suggested and as the man went inside a barrier materialized and den dissapeared. Odin followed the man to his room and saw the woman laying on his bed.

"What happened? Why were those soldiers chasing you? I demand an explanation!", Odin told the man his voice cracking as his eyes scanned the woman laying on his bed.

"Well first of all my name is Simon and this is my wife Claudia. I am an ex-soldier who served the king of these lands. My wife is what you would call a 'carrier' of the old blood. Well to make the long story short, my wife is pregnant and the king demanded we give him our child as a token of loyalty. He has always feared the old blood so he wants to get rid of anything that he feels will threaten him in the future. Anyways, we of course refused to give it up and we fled. The king sent 20 troops to follow us in a seek-and-destroy mission. We have been running for two days it has been hard for my wife and today the soldiers caught up to us and attacked. An arrow found its way toward her chest, luckily it hit near her right soldier, but I fear the worst as she is alredy over due." SImon explained. As he finished Claudia started screaming, she was going through labor. At the same time they heard shouting coming from the forest as the rest of the soldiers approached.

"My love, please do not give up you can do this"Simon told Claudia, then he turned to Odin, "I ask a favor of you, please take care of my family. I am going to make sure they do not get any closer. Thank you once again."

Odin didn't have time to reply as Simon ran outside sword out and dissapeared into the forest.

He heard a yell. He turned around and remembered Claudia was giving birth. He went to her and told her what to do. As time passed Odin stopped hearing the clanking of swords and everything was quiet. He looked down t the new baby girl and looked at her mother. She had given birth succesfully thus ending her life. Odin stepped outside with the new born child and saw the sun was barely starting to rise. He looked around and saw dead bodies laying everywhere and then he saw Simon. He had many arrows sticking out of him and many sword wounds. Yet the face he had was not of pain but of pure calmness. He looked down at the baby girl in his arms and looked at the sun starting to rise once again and said, "you're name shall be Twilight."
