• “Hey, Shen… what happened?” Taya asked, running up to her friend. Shen’s eyes were wide with shock, sadness, and fear, as she stared blankly ahead.
“T-the Kaze clan… gone. The most powerful of the wolf clans…” Shen stopped
Taya knew how she felt. Her clan, the Chikyu, was wiped out by her father. After that, he killed himself. She never knew why he had done it, though. And ever since they were wiped out, she had lived with the Taki clan.
Spread across the field there were the bodies of the Kaze and the Yakedo. The Yakedo was a clan that was blood thirsty for power, and by killing the Kaze, they had gotten exactly what they had wanted. They were now the strongest of clans, and the rulers of the forest.
“Kioshi!” Shen’s scream interrupted her thoughts, and she snapped out of her faze, and turned to see Shen’s glossy red figure running towards one of the wolves’ bodies.
“S-Shen?” A white wolf choked out.
“Oh, Kioshi, are you alright?” Shen asked in a worried tone. Kioshi tried standing, falling at one point, but made it successfully. He leaned on Shen’s shoulder for support, and they walked back over to Taya.
“You can stay with my clan, if you like. Follow me,” Taya said, looking over her shoulder at the two wolves, not bothering to wait for an answer. Shen’s fur was a glossy red color, and Kioshi’s was snow white, but now dotted with small red speckles. As for her, she was as black as a shadow. She had looked nothing like her family, and for that her mother always called her unique.
The trio slowly walked into the forest, avoiding the bloody battlefield, and made it swiftly around the trees. A couple minutes later, they were in the small camp.
