Dash left Kiern and the rest of the islanders because they started to speak lowly about Eya and his mother. Kiern wasn’t apart of it though. He was long gone even before Dash walked away. His younger sister had always had a mind of her own and he envied her for that. He was always the type to listen to other people and be what they expect him to be.
“I didn’t even help her” he grumbles to himslef, kicking a rock. It fell forward into a pile of dead leaves. “I just let her hold that—that sky being, alone” he continues walking and kicking the rock. “She even walked past me and I backed away like a disease was going to spread!” the rock flew fast into a bush which caused a yelp.
Dash paused, staring at the bush infront of him. It rustled and made another noise. He fell backwards, wideeyed. Right infront of him was a living, talking bush. His head started to get dizzy.
The bush rustled again and something flew out of it. It was small and brown, landing right ontop of Dash. It had big dark eyes and floppy ears that hung straight out like a birds wing in flight. It’s tail was short and wagging.
“What the—” Dash hadn’t seen anything like this. It looked like a small baby wolf gone wrong. He gulped, afraid that the creature would eat him whole.
The little brown creature whimpered, its face sad and hurt. Dash noticed that it had a cut on the side of its cheek and its left arm is raised, broken or sprained.
“Boy, your hurt aren’t you?” Dash hesitated as he put his hand on it’s head. The creature whimpered again. This was a hurt animal, and Dash had to do something about it even if it was a meat eater.
He was far away from the beachside where he lived but he picked the creature up anyway, certain that if he couldn’t help Eya, then he’d help this little wolf baby…thing. Dash turned and left for Home.
Rose was in the kitchen, still trying to scrub off the blood from the boys shirt. After twenty minutes of nonstop cleaning, she stopped and decided to take a break. It used to be easy to clean blood off clothes but it seemed impossible for the boys shirt. Maybe it had to do with the material its made of. Rose hadn’t seen anything like it.
The door to Eya’s bedroom was closed due to Rose’s frustration. And now her daughter and the sky being is in there. She tiptoed to the door and tried to peer inside the crack under it. Nothing was revealed so she pressed her face closer to the floor. Eya’s feet were shown and she was lying down next to the bed that the boy was in. In fact, Rose could see a glimpse of his body close to Eya’s…
“MOM!” Dash trudged up the stairs.
Rose jerked away from the door and stood up, pretending to admire the wall. She turned around and acted like she was surprised to see Dash, but then she ended up actually being surprised.
“What is that?!” she said a little too loud. She glimpsed at the bedroom door then back at Dash and said in a harsh whisper, “What is that thing your holding?!”
Dash held up the little brown creature and said, “It’s a baby wolf”
“A freaky one! Look at it’s ears—no, this isn’t a babe wolf. The wolves around here are grey, violent, and never come near us. This must be some mutation or something—oh boy” Rose took that creature away from Dash and took the healing kit from a drawr. “He’s hurt”
Dash nodded, watching her work on the baby wolf. She dabbed some liquid on its cut and covered it with white sealing cream. She took its left arm and wrapped animal hide around it.
“Wherer’d you find it?” Rose asked, staring at the creature wagging its tail happily.
“Somewhere near the mountains” Dash asnwered and said as he saw her shocked expression, “I was wandering away from the others and ended up far away. Sorry”
Rose noticed him staring anxciously at the bedroom door. “Eya’s in there. With the sky boy” Both of them, and the creature, stared at the door with unease.
“Soo…” Dash says, “What are they doing in there?”
“Well, nothing” I think. They kept on staring, anxiety building up inside. “The boy fainted, too…”
Dash nods slowly. “Uh huh…”
The creature sniffs the air and runs towards the door. It started whimpering, pawing on the wood. Dash suspected that it wanted in, so he slowly walked over to the door and very, very slowly started to open the door. Five, twenty seconds later the door was still closed. Rose tapped her foot against the floor impatiently. Dash gulped and finnaly opened the door.
