• Michelle was sitting on the edge of a fountain at the local high school, where her own daughter was attending. The fountain was the most beautiful fountain she had ever seen, the edges were rimmed with a beautiful molding and the statue in the middle was Cupid spitting out water. She sighed as she looked down and saw the cliched heart with a couple's initials inside.

It may not have been her heart she made with a lover but she really had hoped that, whoever those people were, they were still together. Michelle had always wished the best for other people and kept all the misery to herself. She wasn't very concious of this until her senior year of high school.

Michelle never felt like she was pretty, smart or popular. She always wished she was but never made an effort, that didn't stop Zach though. Zach wasn't your typical high school jock, the dumb bully more like it than jock. Zach was the most perfect specimen of all. He looked like a movie star, got straight A's and was quarterback of the football team.

For some reason, Zach had started to befriend Michelle. She was a meek child at her most confident but Zach felt there was an aura about her. Zach actually had the picture perfect life, inside and out. There wasn't trouble at home, his parents weren't strict. He just did the best in life.

Homecoming was coming up and Michelle never got asked to go so she wasn't planning on going. Even if she somehow got up her courage to ask Zach, he was probably going with a pretty and popular girl. She was so startled when Zach had asked her, it was like a dream come true to her. She couldn't wait.

Zach had worn a regular tuxedo with a red tie and Michelle wore a red, backless, satin dress. Zach had told her she was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. Zach and Michelle danced their hearts out and were collapsed on the chairs by the end of the dance, laughing.

They started dating after the homecoming dance, she went to football games and he would take her to dinner often. Their dates always ended in a kiss but Michelle was afraid to make it much more. Quite contrary to most guys I've heard about, Zach respected her decision.

Summer came by quickly, both were high school grads! They both went to the same college and got married after getting their degrees. They both work at the same company right now, Michelle as a designer and Zach as the supervisor of the men. They actually lived happily ever after, like a story book.
