• The last period of school ended at 2:45pm. As always, I would walk to the center of the campus, and wait at the school's snack shack. It was raining since the afternoon, and I didn't have an umbrella. I was hoping Jenny did, and we would be able to stay warm, while waiting for someone to pick us up from school.

Jenny and I had a stressed relationship. She had 4 older brothers, and parents who were nearly set on giving Jenny an arranged marriage when she turned 18. All the conversations over the phone, and letters passed between us, we always timed when her family were not around. Even meeting on campus was a planned event, trying to avoid her 5th (and younger) brother.

I was sitting on a bench, underneath a metal canopy. The sound of raindrops on metal heard in all directions. I was mildly wet from the rain, I ran as quickly as I could to this location. It wasn't long before I saw Jenny also running to the bench I sat at. She didn't fair as well as I did under the rain.

"Gah! I had to give my umbrella to my brother. He's going to his friends house", she said with a panting in her voice. She squeezed the extra water from her sweater and hair.

"That's better, it'll just be us waiting for your pickup", I said with a cheerful smile.

"My brothers said they will be an hour late", she said with a shy laugh.

It was only 1 1/2 hours together after school, but 1 1/2 hours I'll never forget. We sat next together, keeping each other warm, and trying to dry off her clothes. We spoke freely, and laughed, without worrying about her family eavesdropping. This was the day I truly fell in love with Jenny.
