• I must rant for a moment....
Think for a second...How often do you interact and depend on people? In life, communication and interaction among people is a nessesity. Without it how are we to live? What is life? And what do we strive for? I beileve that as human beings we strive for acceptance and acknowledgment, and to have a life is to have these things. We live to please others. We learn to speak in order to speak to others. We grow up and get a job, to assist others. We bring home a paycheck to pay for others. We are on this very social network to interact with others! So why do we not get acknoledgment for our interactions? Maybe in preschool our teachers would say "oh, its so nice of you to be sharing" but now? Now the only way to be recognized, and I mean truely recognized, is by acheiving a standard. If I, as a teenager, want to become accepted by a superior I must acheive a standard. I must work day and night to get an "A" grade. Yes, these skills will help me. And yes, they are very important. And I do realize that it is resonable to give acknoledgment for good grades. But why not get real, genuine, acknoledgment for good social interaction? I do not want a "Wow your report card was awesome, you are going to do so well in life, I am so proud of you!...oh and Em thanks for you know...being good and helping out" Must I get into trouble for my superiors to realize that I behave? Must I stop talking to make them understand they need my attention? Outside of school when we teens become adults our lives are going to revolve around others. We will not only have to exceed in our career area but we must also please others in order to acheive everything else. What I am trying to prove and say is that, a 4.0 is not a fair measurment of ones worth. A smile and a firm handshake, and a voice...a voice, is what you measure others by.
