I saw a small girl, with pale, wistful eyes;
Her demeanor was sad, but sweet like a child.
I wished I could help her, wished there was a way;
To make lips to smile, that hadn't that day.
"Dream on friend," I told her, "For dreaming is sweet;
You must feel so alone, with your head on the street."
I knew how it felt, to have loneliness creep
Into her small heart, and plant itself deep.
"So come with me know," I wish I could say,
"To the place where the angels, will comfort you; nay
You will never grow lonely again;
With your now joyous eyes, and far lonely domain."

I liked the lines
"Dream on friend," I told her, "For dreaming is sweet; / You must feel so alone, with your head on the street."
I did feel like the rhyming was forced at times. Poetry doesn't have to rhyme, maybe you should explore free verse?
