• The Night His Grandma Died

A night filled with excitement and laughter,

    Beneath the starry sky.

    Kissing, sharing, talking.

    Simple, hidden smiles.

    Rinnnngggg!!

The phone call that changed his life.

    Devastation, holding back the pain.

    Close, but yet we’re distant.

The look in his eyes tears at my heart.

    Filled, but not yet spilled.

    I feel powerless.

No hug could possibly fix him.

I try consoling, ignoring my needs.

Even music couldn’t fill his soul.

    I would do anything.

    Giving him laughter—he accepts.

    Try to make him forget.

Even if only for one night.

When he thinks of her, he will think of me.

And remember how I saved him the night his grandma died.
