• Don’t ever write me a love poem
I find it a bit obsessive
Of all the things, I fear the most
    boys who are possessive

I’m not your sun, your life, your air
    I’m not a jewel or a flower
A compliment here and there is nice,
but there’s no need for a constant shower

Feel free to quote some Shakespeare
or leave me a not saying you care
Write me a riddle to puzzle my brain
or send me a gift, if you dare

Be there when I need you the most
answer the phone when I call
Let me know you’ve got an open ear
    any time at all

Keep me thinking, make me smile
    Protect me, hold me tight
    Show with actions, not words
that everything is gonna be alright

    So please, feel free
    laugh
    tease
    kiss
    squeeze
Just don’t ever write a poem for me
