I know myself; I've seen me run
into the burning midnight sun
and as it hangs there overhead,
disturbing the rest of the dead,
the Demons' call rings as they say,
"Come and follow, do not stray."
I attempt resistance, rebellion strong,
but something tells me to sing their song.
So as I'm drawn into their grasp,
their billowing robes onto which I clasp,
I chant their low rumbles,
the reverberating mumbles,
and the flames arise all around me,
carrying me to the white-hot sea.
It froths and foams,
crashes and moans,
against the cliffs of obsidian rock;
it throbs and licks,
destroys and kicks
against the eternal non-existent clock.
Soon the beast has pulled me under,
hot wind whipping the flames asunder,
and I begin to drown amongst the flames.
That fire burns from the inside out; one eternal maim;
but when the last shred of hope has turned to ash,
a blinding light occurs in a flash!
It soothes and cools,
puts out my drowning pools,
and raises me from the Lake of Fire,
lifting me steadily higher.
The Demons' call rings out below,
I cannot hear them though;
for I have been saved from the Demon nation,
from the evils of Temptation,
by the Savior of peace and light,
and the still of dark has returned to the night.
