-
I was ready to go home, to my young, and the great mountains I call my kingdom.
I spread my wings, and took to flight, to make it back to my sweet Eleanor—
Here I am at home, in the great sky, heading safety, in my great kingdom.
I hear nothing but my wings flapping against the wind, louder than ever before,
That I could only see the great land beneath me that looked better then ever before,
For me to see nevermore.
When I reached home, from the midnight dreary, I lumbered in, weak and weary.
As I came in, all was to quiet, something was missing, so I implore—
I heard only clicking, from my own claws, but nothing more in this home, checking—
My heart, into great distress, calling, calling for my dear Eleanor—
“She’s just hiding,” I thought but I kept calling for my dear Eleanor—
But she would answer nevermore.
When I found her, something was missing; the heart was still, no beat or flutter—
I ran a rage, so loud with roars, but I soon decided to explore,
Who would do this to my dearest, so sweet and innocent, she was earnest,
To learn how to breathe fire, and to fly to the far away shores—
But now she has no hope, to learn, or to fly to far away shores—
For she will awaken nevermore.
I lay down near her ever guessing, who would do this to the living—
Only to guess the animal named human, who would do this to my Eleanor,
Until I heard a noise, near the mouth of my cave that I called home, only to bear,
Seeing human at my home, with weapons that they would use, shook me to my core.
They came at me, ever stronger, with the weapons, they hit me at my core.
My heart would beat nevermore.
