• Under the harsh sun we play
    Children laughing, naive and ignorant
    We know food is scarce
We know the dangers of our land
But we don't experience it at first hand
We jump and skip under the African sun
Enjoying our youth that was never stolen
    Attending school at every chance
    Lively, obedient, willing to learn
    Our futures depend on this
To get a job and feed our families

Under the harsh sun we march
    Children frowning, scarred and corrupt
We take the food that is scarce
We cause many dangers of our land
All is experienced at first hand
We trudge and fight under the African sun
Wasting our youth that was stolen away
    Fulfilling missions at every order
    Brave, obedient, willing to kill
    Our futures depend on this
To survive the war and return to our families

We walk under the same sun
    Near but far
Exactly the same but dreadfully different
We dream of the end of war
Some are lucky, some are doomed
    But we are all children
Deserving of the innocence childhood should keep
