The sun is setting
a garnet jewel in the sky.
The light that was the day
is melting into the horizon.
As the twilight comes,
shades of deep blues and rich violets
blend to become one.
The dusky colors
grace the background
and form the skyline.
Night has fallen.
Darkness reveals to us
a crecent shape,
the broken pearl suspended above us
in an empty expanse of space.
With its soft glow for guidance
the nocturnal creatures come from hiding
to be part of the world veiled by light.
The nightengales song
take place for the lark,
and is joined in melody
by the cry of a lonesome wolf.
An atumnal wind
is born in the cool air.
It sweeps along the meadows
and whispers through the wooded moorland,
taking with it the last fall leaves,
from the branches
of the great trembling aspen trees.
Midnight approaches.
The violet hues
vanish into the depths of black skies
and carefree clouds
look as if they’ve fallen from a painters canvas.
Accompanying them in nothing short of chorus
are tiny gleaming stones.
Chips of jade and diamond,
footprints left behind by mother nature and father time.
The fading of diurnal sounds
make way for new.
Shadows seem to sigh and murmur
telling tales of ages lost long ago.
Simple shapes twist to become monsters,
trees become walking hands
to capture children in their sleep
and stones like mighty Leviathan
Make waves to engulf sailors lost at sea.
The imagination of those who dream
brings about the world we see.
Chaos and Harmony
coexisting with little more than simple peace.
If all life were as simple as twilight and midnight
fading so easily
then it would be a cherished place
not that of misery.
But life is not a game we play
nor is it some childs make believe
but more a state of reality.
What you have is what you get.
no more
no less

Well apparently you didn't read it right ;]
There is much more to this piece than what you read, and it would be nice if you could expand upon the meaning of "jeweled and cliched", because I see nothing of the sort there within. in accordance to your comment, I also wish to let you know that this poem received a 9.5 out of 10 in Writers Choice Magazine, for "brilliance and illusion". - Report As Spam

- There is little "behind the scenes." This piece lacks the depth that characterizes good poetry. It also uses a number of jeweled, cliched phrases.
