Not sure if this is very late, considering the date this was posted but I can't help but comment. ^sweatdrops

Grammar-wise, I think what you meant to convey was that love has similiraties or it is embodied by knife and nothing else. So it should be 'Love is nothing BUT a knife.'

Because 'Love is nothing like a knife.' is like saying that love does not have any similarity at all to a knife, which was not what the message the whole poem insistingly points out to.
