• And in the darkness they found,
    An angel broken and sad.
"My wings are torn and I'm earth bound,
Since I had been so bad."
The angel spoke with soft sweet words,
    His eyes hollow and gaunt,
His gaze flickered to the birds,
Their wings they seemed to flaunt.
    The angel sighed with resign,
A tear trickling down a cheek,
Only dull and no more shine,
The angel had become quite meek.
"If we help you to the sky,
    Will you help us out?"
"I will if you do not lie,
    The replied with a pout.
So then they helped him to his feet,
    And brought him far outside.
He looked up and was prepared to meet,
His God with arms opened wide.
He spread his wings with a wince,
    "And now, on my cue!"
They've never seen such beauty since,
    Then when the angel flew.
"Now tell me what is it you want?"
    The angle asked the three.
The smiles they did not taunt,
"We only wanted to be free."
