• Song: Crossfade- Cold

Looking back at me I see
That I never really got it right

Inuyasha wiped a tear that fled softly down his cheek as he gazed down at the motionless body of his beloved in the bed, her midnight hair sprawled around her head as if a dark halo, waiting for death to claim her soul.

I never stopped to think of you
    I'm always wrapped up in
    Things I cannot win

“Kagome get back! Stay away from here!” The energy flashed past Inuyasha, heading straight for the one girl that seemed to cause his heart to race and his breath to stop in his lungs. The one girl he couldn’t stand to watch fall.

You are the antidote that gets me by
    Something strong
Like a drug that gets me high

“I love you Inuyasha,” the words flooded his mind as a memory of Kagome relaxing in his grasp flashed behind his golden eyes, her head laying on his chest and her blazing chestnut eyes gazing up at the half demon. He leaned down and softly placed a loving kiss on her soft lips, never giving a reply to her statement.

What I really meant to say
Is I'm sorry for the way I am
I never meant to be so cold to you

Tightening fist clenched at the sheet as the tears flowed freely from his closed eyes. “If only I was there to stop it. If only I could have got in the way somehow.” The tears dropped from his chin and landed on the pale hand of the motionless Kagome.

And I'm sorry about all the lies
    Maybe in a different light
You could see me stand on my own again

“I don’t know what I would do without you Kagome.” Kagome’s dazzling smile flashed as she gazed up from her pack, looking at him. “Oh don’t be ridiculous Inuyasha. You would live on like you always do.” Inuyasha’s eyes caught hers and the smile faded as she spotted the seriousness in his eyes. She looked down at her work and continued to pack her bag.

    Cause now I can see
You were the antidote that got me by
Something strong like a drug that got me high
I never meant to be so cold

“Kagome, I’m sorry.” A shaking hand moved to the pale face of his beloved as he attempted to bring himself into accepting the fact that she would never ‘sit’ him again. How much you discover you will miss something as pesky as being forced to the ground by a simple command when it comes from someone you care for.

I never really wanted you to see
The screwed up side of me that I keep
Locked inside of me so deep

“Inuyasha if you leave me tonight,” brown eyes filled with tears and sorrow gazed into his golden ones, “To chase down that woman, don’t bother returning.” The words sliced his heart through, forcing him to tear and turn away or else be discovered from the torn feeling he was experiencing.

It always seems to get to me
I never really wanted you to go
So many things you should have known

“If only you could have seen Kagome, if only you knew.” He grasped her hand softly in his, the tears now flowing freely, a waterfall of sorrow. “Why did you have to go and chase after that demon? Did you try to prove something to me?” His eyes opened in realization as he gazed at her pale features. “Tried to prove you were just as good as Kikyo.”

I guess for me there’s just no hope
I never meant to be so cold

The world grew cold as her hand in his grip lost all strength and fell limp. His breath caught in his throat as he gazed at the now perished Kagome, tears forcing his vision to blur and eventually vanish as he lost himself to his grief. His poor, precious Kagome, lost.
